Commitment to Student Achievement

Empower Excellence:  Collaborative Learning for
System Impact

At the DDSB, we believe that excellence begins with equity. The Empower Excellence Strategy was introduced to advance equity, well-being, and academic success through a focused, data-informed, and community-driven approach. It ensures that resources, staffing, and system supports are intentionally directed toward schools and students who face the most complex barriers to learning and well-being.

 

The strategy identifies six shared priorities: Well-Being, High Expectations, Staff Efficacy, Student Leadership, Caregiver Partnerships, and Community Connections. These priorities emphasize high-quality teaching and learning for every student, professional collaboration, and strong partnerships with families and communities.

 

This work directly advances the 2025-2026 MYSP Action Plan commitment to implement the components of the Empower Excellence Strategy. Implementation includes targeted professional learning, instructional coaching, and expanded supports for well-being, literacy, numeracy, and family engagement. School teams collaborate with system leaders and community partners to design responsive approaches that reflect their local contexts while maintaining alignment with system priorities.

 

As implementation continues through 2025–2026, the Empower Excellence Strategy remains a cornerstone of equity, connection, and continuous improvement. By linking focused interventions, educator learning, and caregiver collaboration, this work ensures that every student experiences belonging, confidence, and success, bringing the commitments of Ignite Learning, Ignite Connection, and Ignite Well-Being to life across the system.
