Human Rights Advisory Committee
Established in October 2024, the Human Rights Advisory Committee serves in a strategic advisory role to the Board of Trustees to support the DDSB in upholding its commitments, objectives, and responsibilities under the Human Rights, Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Racism Policy
Over monthly meetings, the committee focused on two main questions: How do we make human rights more accessible and meaningful for students and families? And how do we make the policy real for the communities we serve? The committee had rich conversations, researched educational best practices, and brought forward their own personal and professional experiences and insights. The committee recommended creating clear, easy-to-use resources that speak directly to students and families so that they know and understand their rights and responsibilities. This recommendation isn’t only about information – it’s about empowerment.

Human Rights Belong Here Campaign
We Asked. You Answered.
We wanted to understand what human rights and belonging truly mean to the people we serve. So, we asked our community a simple but powerful question:
“What do human rights and belonging mean to you?”
The answers - words of dignity, safety, respect, and connection – are not only inspiring, but also tell us a story of community hope, care, and compassion.
